In 1884 when Austin J. Kilcoyne was 50 and his wife Mary C. Phillips was 45 they packed their two pieces of luggage ‎(see custom form)‎ and took their sons, Austin ‎(19)‎, John ‎(15)‎ , Patrick ‎(2)‎ and their daughters Bridget ‎(11)‎ , Ellen ‎(8)‎ and Sarah ‎(6)‎ over the Atlantic Ocean to the USA. They were 8 of 688 immigrants heading for the USA who had never been to the USA before. There were also 3 immigrants who had previously been to USA and 17 American Citizens returning to the USA. It does not appear that they were part of the 396 immigrants who were financially assisted in their immigration. They were bunked in regluar steerage for and aft. Their final destination was listed as Dayton, Ohio, USA.

They set sail on the S/S Scaninavian a steamship weighing 1967 tons. The master of the ship was John Parke. Their port of departure was listed as Glasgow Scotland, Moville, Clew Bay and Galway. Geography makes their specific imbarkation point most likely Galway Bay and their port of arrival was documented as Boston, Massachusettes, USA. No one died on the crossing and John Parke completed the "US Custom Form Passager List" persuant to "The Passagers Act of 1882". Their date of arrival was 22 May 1884.

They had two other older daughters, Anna & Mariah. Anna came to the US in 1881 and settled in Dayton. Mariah was in England & was married to John Hudson in 1881 & had 2 children there and came to the US in 1885 and remarried Thomas Hopkins

Austin Kilcoyne eventually passed away in Dayton, Ohio USA in 1888 at the age of 53. He was hit by a train in Dayton, Ohio. After he died Mary and Patick & Ellen moved to Chicago where Austin Jr. had been living. Mary C. Phillips passed away at the age of 90 on April 28, 1928 in Chicago.

Their children either stayed in the USA or move on to other countries including Canada and Haiti. Bridget Kilcoyne their daughter moved to Venosta, Quebec Canada where she married John Hayes.
